The following are questions we have answered for our clients.
Locked out of Sage with "Username in use error" |
If you can't get into Sage Accounts because it says your username is already in use, this probably means Sage didn't shut down cleanly. When this happens it leaves a locking file behind, and to resolve this problem you need to delete it (this is safe to do since Sage recreates it next time you log-in). The file is called QUEUE.DAT and lives in the ACCDATA folder of your Sage Accounts database.
If you don't know where your database lives, try the following:
With Windows XP try
C:\Documents and & Settings\All users\Application Data\Sage\Accounts\version of Sage\company.000\ACCDATA
In place of All Users, you may need your Username.
With Windows Vista and Windows 7 try
c:\Users\Default\AppData\Sage\Accounts\version of Sage\company.000\ACCDATA
In place of Default, you may need your Username.

Discard Button |
|
Use the Discard button with caution. This Button deletes ALL the data in that window and not just the row you are working in. If you want to delete just one row, make sure your cursor is in the row and select Delete Row from the Edit menu. Or press F8.

Add your logo to your invoices
|
If you want to add a logo (or any other graphic) to your invoice or other report, then follow these instructions.
Unless you know the file name of your invoice layout it is easier to open the invoice, or report, and press the Print button. Select the layout you normally use and click the Edit button. Report Designer will open the report in design view for you to edit.
Select Image Embedded from the Toolbox menu. This will give you a mouse cursor with a cross. Move it to the point which will be the top left of your logo and click on the report (avoid putting it in the margins which show in a different colour).
You will be prompted to navigate to your image file. When you select the file with your logo it will insert it on the report, and you can resize by dragging the corners, and reposition this, and other elements of the report, by clicking and dragging.

Calculating Net Unit Price |
A customer was charged £103 inclusive of VAT and I had to raise the invoice after they had paid. I used the calculator to work out the Net value and input this in to the invoice but the total amt due including VAT was £103.01, as Sage rounded up. If I took 1p off the net amount, this meant the customer had paid 1p more than the invoice. I discovered the Edit Item option, put the total £103 in to the Unit Price field then pressed the Calc. Net button. Although the numbers were the same as I entered previously, the total shown in the invoice was now exactly £103. Bingo! |
